On Sunday, it was confirmed that the senior quarterback for the East River Falcons, 18-year old Nick Miner, had been involved in a car accident. Tragically, the young man succumbed to injuries he sustained, shaking his community to it’s core.

Miner was a leader for the East River program, as a three year starter for Falcons, totaling more than 3,100 yards and 33 touchdowns of the course of his short career. As a multisport athlete and an exceptional young person, Nick’s legacy and memory will live on forever.

“I know I speak for our entire East River High community when I express the grief I felt at the loss of one of our own. My thoughts and prayers are with this student’s family and friends as they go through this extremely difficult time.”

Additionally, several area schools, including Apopka and Oviedo, offered thoughtful tributes on their official platforms as well.

UPDATE: East River will be paying tribute to No. 8 during their homecoming game on Thursday night, and visiting Lake Howell has announced plans to wear No. 8 decals on their helmets in solidarity.

Sports Club Florida offers our deepest condolences, respects and prayers to the family of Nick Miner — Soar High.
