THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE BULLS

South Florida (1-8) falls to Temple, 54-28.

Once again, Bulls fans are preparing for the restart of a cycle that never seems to end. Call it another questionable hire, or college football purgatory. An abysmal performance against a weak Temple Owls football team has made it clear that a change was needed, and waiting until December would not be an option. Coach Jeff Scott, who came to Tampa before the 2020 season after spending 10+ years at Clemson in various coaching roles, had received a two-year contract extension through 2026 in January. Under his watch, the Bulls have managed a 4-26 record (1-19 AAC).

As the Bulls endure their seventh straight defeat, Coach Jeff Scott has been relieved of his duties.

Athletic Director Michael Kelly made the announcement on Sunday following the 28-54 loss on Saturday.

“When Jeff came to Tampa in December of 2019, we had high expectations for where he could take our football program,”

“While he did so many things right, including rebuilding our culture, pushing forward our indoor performance facility, and engaging our community, the on-the-field results fell well below our standards.”

NEXT: Coach Daniel Da Prato will likely serve as interim head coach for the remain three games of the season, as the Bulls welcome SMU (Nov. 12) and Tulsa (Nov. 18) to Raymond James Stadium, before the season finale War on I4 vs. a ranked University of Central Florida.
