THE DARTER STANDARD

“Those who stay will be champions.”

In Apopka, Florida, those immortal words continue to ring true, as Apopka High School’s football program celebrates it’s third state championship appearance in four years.

As I mentioned earlier, somethings in this life just feel inevitable, and this moment for Apopka fits that description. Even on the rare occasions when the Darters lost games this season, going to states never felt out of reach. On a beautiful Friday night in Wellington, Florida, the Blue Darters punched their ticket. In a heart-stopping finish, Apopka rallied late to survive Palm Beach Central, 27-24.

NEXT GENERATION NOW

‘Next man up’ is a hallmark of a great football program, and Apopka has their guy. As a freshman, quarterback Tyson Davison has led the Blue Darters to the State Champion, after rallying his team from a two score deficit at halftime.

NEXT: Apopka (11-3) faces familiar foe from Miami, Columbus (13-1) for the third time in a state championship.
