University officials said Mike Leach, the current Mississippi State football coach and former Washington State University coach, was airlifted to a medical facility in Jackson on Monday after experiencing a “personal health issue” at his home in Starkville. He is currently in critical condition.

An unnamed source at the University of Mississippi Medical Center confirmed Leach’s admittance there Sunday evening. The hospital is about 125 miles from Mississippi State’s campus.

WSU has made five bowl appearances in Leach’s first seven years, starting in 2012, his inaugural year at the school. Leach has made his last four years at WSU a programme first, guiding the Cougars to bowl games

Former players, colleagues, and college football rivals sent Leach messages of support and concern via social media.

In his 21 years at Texas Tech, Washington State, and Mississippi State, Leach has a 158-107 record. Our prayers are with his family and all those affected. We pray he return healthier than ever.
