Authorities disclosed that Vontae Davis, a former NFL star and native of Washington D.C., was discovered deceased at his Florida residence on Monday. Responding to a call from a household assistant, Davie police found the 35-year-old in distress, believed to be due to a medical emergency, at the address on SW 178th Avenue. Despite efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
While law enforcement currently does not suspect foul play, an ongoing investigation is underway. Davis, known as a former NFL cornerback and sibling to Super Bowl-winning tight end Vernon Davis, was selected by the Miami Dolphins as the 25th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.

Expressing their sadness, the Miami Dolphins released a statement on Monday regarding Davis’s sudden passing. Davis spent three seasons with the Dolphins before being traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2012, where he earned Pro Bowl honors in 2014 and 2015.
Colts owner Jim Irsay conveyed his condolences in a statement, reflecting on Davis’s qualities as a teammate and player. Davis concluded his NFL career after six seasons with the Colts, briefly joining the Buffalo Bills in 2018 before retiring early in the regular season. Throughout his career spanning 10 seasons and comprising 121 games, Davis showcased his talent with 113 starts.
