BLEEDING ORANGE AND GREEN

Jones High’s electrifying star quarterback Dereon Coleman has officially committed to Mario Cristobal’s program at Miami.

A highly-sought member of 2026 class, Coleman received offers from Arkansas, Oklahomas, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Texas A&M – all potential contenders in the high-powered, Nick Saban-less SEC this year. In-state competition for the Jones Tiger was just as fierce, pitting South Florida, Florida Atlantic, and his hometown UCF Knights against each other the talented gunslinger. In the end, however, the Miami Hurricanes have their quarterback of the future. This was further solidified with Coleman’s performance at the UM 7-on-7 title game, which saw his visiting Tiger outmatch the de facto home team from Miami Northwestern, and win the championship, in full view of the Hurricanes coaching staff. While signing day is still far away, Coleman sounds very motivated to get back to Coral Gables.

In the meantime, the next time we’ll get a close look at the Hurricanes’ newest commit will be on August 17th, when Jones faces down the Bokey (Sanford) Seminoles in the 2024 Legacy Classic at Camping World Stadium.

“They’re going to get a ring out of me.”

We look forward to speaking with Dereon Coleman about his commitment, ahead the upcoming football season.
