The Orlando Magic have added depth to their backcourt by signing veteran playmaker Cory Joseph to a contract. Magic president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman announced the signing on July 19.

Joseph, 32, will play for his seventh NBA team after playing with the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, Detroit Pistons and Golden State Warriors.

The 13-year-veteran is expected to play behind starter Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony and Anthony Black at the point guard position next season. He will likely fill the spot left by Markelle Fultz, who played five seasons with the ball club.

Joseph averages 6.9 points on 44 FG%, 3.0 assists, and 2.5 rebounds in 21.7 minutes per game throughout his career. He’s also a decent three-point shooter at 34.9 3PT%.

Apart from providing depth in the point guard spot, Joseph will bring leadership to an up-and-coming Magic team consisting of young talents like All-Star Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, and Wendell Carter Jr.
