THE RISE OF THE GRIFFIN TWINS

UCF legend Shaquem Griffin has finally returned to Orlando, and now will be recognized as one of the greatest players to ever don Black and Gold for Orlando’s hometown team.

As UCF slowly emerges as a new college football powerhouse, “The Rise of Griffins Twins” remain a near mythical hallmark of the Knights lore. St. Petersburg, Florida born twins were recruited to the City Beautiful by legendary Coach George O’Leary .  The younger (by sixty seconds) Griffin was born with amniotic band syndrome, which severely damaged his left hand. Losing hand as four, most would’ve reasonably abandoned any dream of professional sports greatness. However, this never seemed to be an option for the Griffins.

During his time at Central Florida, he was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Year. He was the Peach Bowl defensive MVP and was named to the second team All-American team.

The linebacker was drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He went to the Seattle Seahawks and then spent some time with the Miami Dolphins. Before he finished in the league, he recorded 25 tackles and had a sack. He has not been in the league since 2021. Elder twin Shaquill Griffin (by sixty seconds), currently plays for the Minnesota Vikings.
