In the season opener, the Miami Hurricanes dominated the Bethune Cookman Wildcats. The game started out with a quick touchdown by the Hurricanes. In this game, they scored early and often, moving out to a 42-10 halftime advantage. Final score was 70 to 13 points. The Canes attack appeared unstoppable, accumulating nearly 500 yards of total offense. They had complete control over the Wildcats, who had no defense against their overwhelming attack. T. Van Dyke completed 13 of 16 passes for a total of 193 yards and two touchdowns. H. Parrish Jr. ran the ball 14 times for 108 yards and scored three touchdowns.
The Wildcats showed up, but they were unable to compete with the 16th-ranked Hurricanes. This game was a thorough rout, and it is reasonable to assume that the Hurricanes did not show any leniency towards the Wildcats. The final score could have been far worse if the Hurricanes had not taken their foot of the throttle in the second half. The Miami Hurricanes thoroughly dominated this contest, and they will look to carry this momentum into their next match against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. Next week, the Wildcats hope to rebound against the South Carolina State Bulldogs.
