Despite having Prairie View down by 14 points in the first quarter, B-CU allowed the Panthers to storm back to win, 64-48. Bethune-Cookman has now dropped to 2-6 with Saturday’s loss.
The PVAMU Advantage
PVAMU quarterback Trazon Connley torched the Bethune-Cookman line for a whopping five sacks in one of the finest rushing performances in HBCU football history.
Connley scored four touchdowns in the course of the game, one of the greatest rushing performances in HBCU football history. The Marauders’ offense piled up 574 yards in total.
Not too Shabby at All for B-CU
B-CU’s Jones went 25-36 with 270 yards and 2 TD. A performance that clearly outpaced Connley. The game was ultimately B-CUs to lose by giving up unneeded points in the half. Riley had over 130 receiving yards and Byrd rushed for 3TDs and 156 total yards. I believe if B-CU plays like this, they should beat the Hornets next week. I just hope their defense can stop allowing passing and rushing yards.
For Bethune-Cookman, the loss could be seen as a season almost gone but what I see is a team that can put together drives but clearly needs to work on closing things down defensively.
They will look to bounce back at their homecoming game against Alabama State University on November 5th.
