In a competitive first half, Alabama State and Bethune-Cookman squared off on Saturday evening before Bama St. pulled away in the second half for the 37-22 win.
Alabama State’s offense was successful in keeping possession of the ball and avoiding turnovers in a game where Dematrius Davis ran for two touchdowns. Bama St.’s offense racked up 367 yards as a result of the extra attention paid to avoiding penalties.
Despite having a lead at the end of the first quarter, Bethune-Cookman couldn’t finish strong. Furthermore, BCU’s secondary was a problem. Despite the fact that the score didn’t indicate it, Jalon Jones had a good game for BCU. He completed 19-30 for 191 yards.
The win improves Alabama State to 6-3. Bethune-Cookman falls to 2-7 as a result of the loss. We will have to wait until November 12 to see how each team responds. Alabama State will face Florida A&M next month, while Bethune-Cookman takes on Bethune next weekend. Alcorn State will be their next opponent in Lorman next week. They are currently 4-5.
