The UCF Knights football team defeated the Tulane Green Wave in a matchup between two rated
American Athletic Conference teams. In the victory, the Knights were led by quarterback John Rhys
Plumlee, who completed one touchdown pass, ran for two touchdowns, and committed no turnovers.
Plumlee led the squad in rushing yards with 176 on 18 carries. Isaiah Bowser added two touchdowns of
his own and finished the game with 63 total yards ( 54 rushing and 9 receiving).
The Knights sacked Michael Pratt, the quarterback for Tulane, twice and caused two turnovers. Jason Johnson, the
linebacker, led the team with eight tackles and one sack.
Throughout the first three quarters, the Knights maintained a commanding cushion. In the fourth
quarter, with less than two minutes remaining in the game, the Green Wave made things interesting by
cutting the margin to one score. However, the Knights were able to maintain their advantage and secure
the win.
The Knights have defeated the Green Wave four times in a row and currently occupy the number one
ranking in the American Athletic Conference. The victory was significant for the Knights, who advanced
to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. It was also the second time this season that UCF defeated a
ranked opponent. On November 19, they will face the Navy Midshipmen at FBC Mortgage Stadium. The
Tulane Green Wave's record drops to 8-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play. With a short week, the
Green Waves will play the SMU Mustangs on November 17 in an attempt to return to winning.
