Orlando City fans, get ready to welcome a rising center back – David Brekalo! Hailing from Croatia, Brekalo is Orlando City’s new defender on a guaranteed contract until 2027. As well as a pending club option in 2028. His potential and technical prowess has already captured the attention of fans and scouters alike.

“His defensive intelligence and technical abilities are both something that we feel will bolster our back line and set us up for further success this season,” says Orlando City EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager Luiz Muzzi.

Pareja on David Brekalo:

“David has been in a short time, surprising a lot.”

Beginning his professional career in 2017, he since scored 19 goals and two assists in 185 matches as a center-back for Viking and Malmö. As well as one goal for Slovenia in 11 caps.

Although Viking fans are disappointed seeing Brekalo leave, all focus will remain on him as he embarks on this exciting new journey with the Lions on February 24. As Orlando City faces against CF Montréal.
