The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, once again, wasted no time with free agency opening today, agreeing to a new contract with Kicker Chase McLaughlin early on in a day full of whirlwind transactions. The 27 year old McLaughlin will enter his sixth NFL season on a three-year, $12.3 million deal.
McLaughlin had several stops before joining the Bucs. He was a member of 8 other teams before Tampa picked him up in 2023. Coaching staff opted to have a competition between McLaughlin & Rodrigo Blankenship for the 2023 starting position. After securing the spot, he hit 29 of his 31 attempts (93.5%) over the season including 7 out of 8 from beyond 50 yards.
McLaughlin will now rank 12th amongst Kicker contracts, with his newly inked deal averaging $4.1 million per season.
