As the breaking news ticker slid by at a rapid fire pace during Day 1 of NFL Free Agency, the Buccaneers and Detroit Lions struck a bargain that will bolster Tampa Bay’s upcoming draft class in April.
Trade:
????Lions receive: CB Carlton Davis, Buccaneers 2024 6th-round pick and a 2025 6th-round pick.
????Buccaneers receive: Lions 2024 third-round pick.

Per Adam Schefter, Tampa will send CB Carlton Davis III plus fifth round picks in the 2025 & 2026 seasons to Detroit in trade for the Lions’ 3rd round pick in this year’s draft, which amounts to the 92nd overall pick.
This would raise the Bucs’ total pick count to eight in the 2024 draft class if you include the late 6th rounder acquired through the League’s compensatory pick system last week. Each year, the NFL awards a number of extra “compensatory” picks to teams based on net losses in free agency. A total of 14 teams were awarded 34 picks this year in addition to standard draft picks already established during the 7 round draft.
The Buccaneers have seemingly made all the right moves thus far with the 2024 League business year and new signings officially starting tomorrow, March 13th at 4:00pm EST. In addition to re-signing Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans, they franchise tagged All-Pro Safety Antoine Winfield Jr, and will have eight picks to make on Draft Day in April. Buccaneers’ fans have alot to look forward to this Spring and beyond.
