Jaylin Sellers, the UCF Knights men’s basketball team’s main gunner, will return for his senior season.

The program shared Seller’s decision on social media platform X after the Knights’ 2023-24 college basketball following an 83-77 loss to South Florida in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament on Tuesday.

Sellers could have declared for this year’s NBA Draft after scoring a team-high 15.9 points in 32 minutes per game. However, one factor that might have contributed to Seller’s decision to stay at UCF for another year is his subpar shooting percentage in his junior season.

After shooting 49 percent and 50 percent from the field in his first two seasons, Seller’s shooting percentage dropped to 41 percent this season. His 3P% also went down as he shot just 29.7 percent this season after going 44 and 45 percent from beyond the arc in his freshmen and sophomore year, respectively.

The 6-foot-4 guard would have also benefited if the Knights secured an NCAA tournament appearance this season since he would have performed before the presence of NBA scouts.

Still, Seller’s NBA dream is far from over.

Next season, he will get the chance to improve his draft stock with a better showing in his final year of eligibility at UCF.
