The Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday released safety Richard LeCounte III after a season that saw him a practice squad player that never got the opportunity to see much game action.

Drafted by Cleveland in the fifth round of the 2021 Draft, LeCounte played in nine games his rookie season before moving on from Cleveland after 2 years.
The minor roster move was made late on Wednesday, prompting most savvy fans of the Bucs to speculate the team may look to add safety help, with only three safeties on the team as of now. Although All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield Jr. and Jordan Whitehead will hoard the lion’s share of defensive snaps, it’s likely the front office at least considers a safety during the mid to late rounds this weekend as Draft festivities move forward.
It is noteworthy that the team brought in two safeties during their “30-visits”, including Georgia’s Tykee Smith and Trey Taylor from Air Force. Smith is graded as a third round player (Day two) while Taylor is marked as a fifth to sixth round pick (Day 3/4).
