The UCF Knights hope to keep their momentum going as they face Sam Houston at FBC Mortgage Stadium on Friday at 6:30 p.m. (EST).
The Knights dominated New Hampshire, 57-3, to begin their second Big 12 college football season. KJ Jefferson, the new quarterback for UCF this season, had a lackluster game, covering 164 yards on 7-for-14 passing with two touchdowns.
Luckily for the UCF, their running backs came out to play, rushing for 454 yards with five touchdowns. After week 1, RJ Harvey has established himself as one of the most entertaining running backs to watch in college football after covering 142 yards on 11 carries with 2 TDs.
Harvey’s explosive opening week performance even drew accolades from football fans and experts, who will surely pay more attention to the running back’s performance in UCF’s upcoming games.
Sam Houston gave Rice 34-14 beat down on their home turf at Rice Stadium. Sam Houston used a 17-0 first quarter to control the flow of the match. Quarterback Hunter Watson put up a stellar game with 229 passing yards with 2 touchdowns. He also led his team with 57 rushing yards on 14 carries.
KJ Jefferson Breakout Game
KJ Jefferson is bound to have a breakout game after the UCF coaching staff faced a lot of criticism for not giving KJ Jefferson the free reign to lead the attack from the pocket.
It should be noted that Jefferson joined UCF in the first place to enhance his draft stock and showcase the talent that made him a legend at Arkansas. For sure, UCF head coach Gus Malzahn has done his assignments to get his prized quarterback more involved in their offense against Sam Houston.
Of course, RJ Harvey is going to do his thing. He will strive to prove to everybody that he deserves all the attention he’s getting right now and is the billion No.1 running back in the nation. Everybody should also keep a close look on running back Penny Boone and linebacker DeShawn Pace who could explode anytime.
