‘SHOTS FIRED’

From warning shots at the media narratives challenging his campaign, to a full broadside on Wednesday, Travis Hunter is not backing down.

‘SHOTS FIRED’FOR THE MEMBERS: Colorado’s last Heisman winner was Rashaan Iman Salaam in 1994, and passed in 2016.

As we discussed previously, the pursuit of the most important individual award in college football, has boiled down to a three-man race between Florida-made talents. In likelihood, Hunter is the way-to-early favorite for the Heisman Trophy following the 2024 season. As the nation’s most successful, two-way player since Charles Woodson, Hunter has the resume, the aura of a Heisman Trophy winner, and the opportunity to reiterate his case in Colorado’s remain slate of games. Sixth placed in the conference, and facing down Arizona, Cincinnati, Texas Tech, Utah, Kansas, and Oklahoma State. As program, and a roster, Colorado is not in position to pose a credible threat at the conference championship, or a college football playoff berth this season, so Coach Prime would be justified (and wise) to fully-support Hunter’s Heisman Trophy campaign. Colorado is closer to their first Heisman Trophy winner in decades, than a national championship.

FOR THE MEMBERS: Colorado’s last Heisman winner was Rashaan Iman Salaam in 1994, and passed in 2016.

Miami’s rockstar quarterback Cam Ward posed the most legitimate threat to Hunter’s campaign before the Cane’s questionable showing vs. Virgina Tech.

Now, the media hype that once circled Miami has shift out west to the inconspicuous landscape of Boise, Idaho.

Mountain West conference powerhouse Boise State is a program well-accustomed to being ignored by the national media. However, a very humble young man from Jacksonville, Florida, has made the Broncos the biggest show on turf for the past several weeks. Make no mistake, Boise State’s star running back Ashton Jeanty is better than advertised. Even by national media hype-train standards.

Sports Club Members: All three of these young men are stars, with bright future ahead of them, represent our state well, and have rightful claims to the Heisman Trophy.

Stay tuned.
