FAMU still hasn’t earned its first SWAC victory this season and will look to make up ground as conference play picks back up. The Rattlers (1-2, 0-1 SWAC) should be ready to go, now that their batteries are fully charged.
The Scenario
The Rattlers were happy to have a week off after such a difficult opening stretch of games. Instead of focusing on getting ahead on preparation for Week 4 opponent Alabama A&M (0-3), Coach Willie Simmons focused on internal work. FAMU players were excited to take the field early this week as the practice schedule was altered in preparation for Saturday’s game against Alabama A&M at Bragg Memorial Stadium. The improved health of the Rattler’s running back positions for the new week is a welcome development. FAMU missed running backs Terrell Jennings (turf toe) and A.J. Davis (sprained ankle) in the 23-13 home opener win over Albany State last week.
Jaylen McCloud left the game early with a hip pointer. The three players have been upgraded to day-to-day status heading into game week. In addition to De’Andre Francis carrying the load with 18 attempts, 79 rushing yards, and a first collegiate touchdown against Albany State, he was injured during the game.
The Prediction
FAMU still has not earned a victory in the SWAC this season, however, we believe this match may squash that fact.
