Are you ready for Thursday night football!!! The UCF Knights defeated the South Carolina State Bulldogs with a dominating performance. This was a great night for quarterback John Rhys Plumlee, who scored three touchdowns in the first half, two through the air and one on the ground. Honestly, the game was gone after the Knight scored twenty-one (21) unanswered points in the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Knights continued their dominance, allowing only one field goal and scoring another touchdown. The score at halftime was 28-3 in favor of the UCF Knights.

The second half started off much like the first with the Knights continuing to dominate on both sides of the ball. The offense was operating at full capacity while the defense was bending but not breaking. Isaiah Bowser rushed 23 times for 83 yards and two touchdowns during the game. Nikai Martinez, a true freshman cornerback for the Knights, got a massive sack to open the third quarter. This was Martinez’s second big play of the game. Late in the second quarter, Martinez made a powerful tackle at the goal line to thwart the Bulldogs’ sole opportunity to score a touchdown in the first half. Talk about having a solid start to your college career.
In the third quarter, the Bulldogs finally reached the end zone, but it was too little, too late. The Knights won with relative ease, 56-10. This was an impressive victory for the Knights and it sets the tone for the rest of the season. The Knights will take on the Louisville Cardinals next Friday at home in their second game of the season. Last year, the Cardinals altered the Knights’ season after UCF quarterback Dillon Gabriel was hurt on the final play of the game. The Knights will have their work cut out for them, but if they play with the same intensity and concentration as they did on Thursday night, they should be able to secure the victory.
