“FAMU still has not earned a victory in the SWAC this season, however, we believe this match may squash that fact.”

WRITER’S NOTE: Here at Sports Club Florida, there’s nothing we love more than the sweet smell of prediction validation. Shout out to the homie, Kevyn Bryant.

With a 38-25 statement win, Coach Willie Simmons and the Rattlers, seized their first conference victory of the season on Saturday, overcoming the visiting Bulldogs of Alabama A&M.

As expected from one of the most respected minds in HBCU football, Alabama A&M Coach Connell Maynor arrived with a highly-motivated Bulldogs squad. After initially being outscored in the first quarter; the Rattlers’ defense made their presence felt, courtesy of interceptions snatched by Javan Morgan and Nadarius Fagan, respectively.

Postgame, Coach Simmons provided these remarks:

“Excited to get another win, congratulations to the team; the guys fought hard. We didn’t play our best ball in the first half, but the guys came out the second half and really settled down and showed what type of team we are really capable of being.”

In the lead up to the matchup, FAMU alum Bishop Bonnet offer a bit of insight on the mindset of this Rattlers’ program, via his twitter:

“We don’t lose at Bragg”

FAMU returns to the newly renovated Bragg Memorial Stadium on October 1, vs. Mississippi Valley State.
