ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT
FAMU Basketball showed plenty of potential in their season-opening contest with the Oregon Ducks, but ultimately fell short in Eugene. FAMU’s Jordan Tillman and Jordan Chatman both led the Rattlers with eight points.
NEXT: The Rattlers remain in the Pacific Northwest to play Portland Wednesday, November 9, at 10:30 p.m. Eastern.
SEASON FORECAST
This season, the Rattlers will take on eight Power 5 programs, including member-teams of the Pac-12, Southeastern, Atlantic Coast, and Big Ten conferences to start non-conference play. In November, these opponents include #21 ranked Oregon (Nov. 7) as part of the SWAC/Pac-12 Legacy Series, Portland (Nov. 9), Oregon State (Nov. 11), Miami (Nov. 14), Albany State (Nov. 21), and Florida (Nov. 30).
Also, FAMU will take road trips to Georgia (Dec. 2), Louisville (Dec. 17), #4 Kentucky (Dec. 21), and will close out non-conference play at Purdue (Dec. 29). To end the year, the Rattlers will host Edward Waters (Dec. 13) in the Al Lawson Center.
After New Years, the Rattlers host rival Bethune-Cookman in their SWAC opener, (Jan. 2). After the conference opener, the Rattlers will be on the road for consecutive games against Southern (Jan. 7) and Grambling State Jan. 9).
Other home conference games will include contests against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Jan. 14), Mississippi Valley State (Jan. 16), Alabama A&M (Jan. 28), Alabama State (Jan. 30), Jackson State (Feb. 11), Alcorn State (Feb. 13), Grambling State (Feb. 25), and Southern (Feb. 27).
The SWAC Championships will take place in Birmingham, Ala., from Wednesday, March 8, to Saturday, March 11.
