MEET THE STRIKERS

Mississippi Valley University’s basketball program visited the Al Lawson Center for a double-header match up with both FAMU basketball teams. Safe to say, the Rattlers immensely enjoyed the visit.

Lady Rattlers Go First.

Florida A&M women’s basketball (Overall 2-13, Conference 0-4) scored 30 points off of turnovers on the way to a 69-53 win against the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devilettes (Overall 2-14, Conference 0-5). Southwestern Athletic Conference player of the week Dylan Horton led the way with nineteen individual points, including six three point field goals, and contributing 7/34 turnovers for the Rattlers on defense. Senior Guard Mide Oriyomi contributed to the score with 18 points, as well as Staysha Allen, and Orange Park’s Skylar Baltezegar.

This conference win also ends a seven-game losing streak for Coach Shalon Pillow, and the Rattlers.

More on Horton.

This season, FAMU’s star senior Dylan Horton has averaged 20.0 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists per game across two games during this past week. She shot 50.0 percent from the field against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State, respectively. Over the course of this past week, Horton poured in a game-high 21 points against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday. She followed that performance with a game-high 19 points during a 69-53 Rattlers’ win over MVSU on Monday.

Dangerous Dimingus

A career night for FAMU Junior Dimingus Stevens presented a much-needed spark for Coach Robert McCullum’s squad, lifting the Rattlers to a heart-stopping finale and a one-point victory at home.
