Orlando City SC’s playoff run has come to end. Today in Montreal the playoff dreams were squashed with an ending score of 2-0. This was Orlando City’s 3rd time in the playoff in a row and we really had our hopes up for the home team.

The first half was scoreless from either team but soon things changed in favor of Montreal. A penalty and a score by Ismael Kone in the 68th minute put the hammer to nail in finishing off the playoff journey for Orlando.

Orlando City’s loss in the Major League Soccer playoffs on Sunday was the end of a long, winding road. We may see Orlando City again in 2023, but for now, it’s over. The fact that U.S.-based teams have won only two of thirteen all-time playoff matches in Canada has continued with Montreal’s victory on Sunday. The No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, Montreal now advances to the conference semifinals, where it will face either NYCFC or Miami. NYCFC and Miami are set to play on Monday, with No. 3 NYCFC and No. 6 Miami battling for a spot in the conference finals.
