Tua should start on the game this Sunday! As an Alabama Grad, it really pained me to see Tua go through so much in just the first few games but it’s apparent Tua’s success at the QB position is important to the franchise.
Rookie Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is expected to return to the field after suffering a head and neck injury against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 4. Tagovailoa was sacked less than six minutes before halftime, leaving his fingers pointed in several directions.
A scene I will never get out of my top sports moments in my head.
According to reports, the former Alabama quarterback was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was conscious and had movement in all his extremities. Tagovailoa described his injury for the first time publicly, saying he was out cold for a while after being hit.
“I wouldn’t say it was scary for me at the time because there was a point where I was unconscious, so I couldn’t really tell what was going on,” said Tagovailoa.
“When I did come to and kind of realized what was going on and what was happening, I didn’t think of anything long term or short term. I was just wondering what happened.”
“I remember the entire night up to the point where I got tackled. After I got tackled, I don’t remember much there — getting carted off, I don’t remember that” he said.
“But I do remember things that were going on in the ambulance and then when I arrived at the hospital.”
Tagovailoa has been sidelined for three consecutive games, causing the Miami Dolphins to experience a drop in passing efficiency. The backup quarterbacks have sustained injuries themselves in just their short time on the field making things even scarier for the Dolphins the past weeks.
According to Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, Tagovailoa has been “laser-focused” in preparation for his return to normal activities, which is expected to occur Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I am excited to see Tua get back into the swing of things and wish him much success. I hope the Dolphins organization did things right and Tua comes back like he never left. Just a few more days until we see if the win drought is over for Miami.
