The day was off to an ominous start with Hurricane Nicole quickly approaching Orlando. The game was moved up by 90 minutes and we were off to the start of the game. To make things even more interesting the Magic played without Paolo Banchero for the first time tonight due to an ankle sprain that occurred last night; however, Orlando came out on top with a 7-point win over the Mavericks.
The Mavericks’ defense was non-existent early on, as the Magic scored 22 of their 24 points in the paint. Turnovers kept Dallas in the game despite the horrible shooting, however after one period, the Mavericks led 28-24 despite shooting just 37% from the field.
Doncic finished with 24 points after shooting 9 for 29 overall and 2 for 11 from 3-point range breaking his 30pt streak. Despite being outrebounded 49-29, Spencer Dinwiddle scored 29 points for the Mavericks.

Orlando held Luka Doncic under 30 points for the first time this season in a 94-87 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night, as Franz Wagner scored 22 points. Despite recording 30 or more points in each of the Mavericks’ first nine games, Doncic finished with 24 points after shooting 9 for 29 overall and 2 for 11 from 3-point range. Despite being outrebounded 49-29, Spencer Dinwiddle scored 29 points for the Mavericks. Wendell Carter Jr. recorded 13 points and 12 rebounds in the win for Orlando. Jalen Suggs contributed 12 points and seven boards.
“The great part about this team is they each step into a role,” Mosley said. “They know when their numbers are called, they’ll be ready. You saw that the other night with Mo Bamba. You see that with what Kevon has done being able to step in. With guys being out, other guys are going to step into that role and they do it willingly.”
This Magic team is something different entirely and they proved that by beating the Mavericks without Paolo though he was missed. It seems he should make a quick return back to the game, hopefully by this Friday against the Suns.
The Breaks and Go
Seven rebounds were collected by Okeke, Bol Bol, and Jalen Suggs. The Magic hope that Banchero, leading all NBA rookies in scoring (23.5) and rebounds (8.3), will be out for just one game. Kevon Harris was sidelined with a rib contusion on his left side. Dallas led 34-24 early in the second quarter when Dinwiddie made a layup. In the final six minutes, Dallas led 83-82 after Dinwiddie scored, but the Magic rallied with eight consecutive points in a 3 1/2-minute span in which Doncic missed two free throws. With 56.7 seconds remaining, Wagner made two free throws and a jumper to give Orlando a 94-85 lead.
Orlando’s next game is against the Suns on Friday evening at the Amway Center.
