ALL CHEESE, NO STEAM
In their first-ever meeting, Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers made a strong first impression, demoralizing the Purdue Boilermakers, 60-7, at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando.

GEAUX TIGERS, GEAUX
A statement to end Kelly’s first year in Baton Rouge.
When Brian Kelly first arrived in the state of Louisiana, it was an awkward fit (from the outside looking in) with an awkward accent to go with it. Only three years removed from the Joe Burrow National Championship run, LSU has always possessed the wealth of talent, only needing the right coach to develop it. A year and two months later, Coach Kelly has secured his first 10-win season, and first bowl victory as a LSU Tiger.
In front of a rowdy audience, including the likes of four-star defensive back Brandon Jacob of Evans (Orlando), the Tigers scored the most points ever in a Citrus Bowl game, and put up a little less than 600 yards of offense.

The Purdue Coach Situation (or lack thereof)
My parents knows nothing about college football, and less than nothing about Purdue. And we both agree, Purdue needs to go get a refund from the Brohm Bros.
Before kickoff, the Boilermakers had to deal with the distraction of an interim coach who already had one foot out the door, and had already agreed to join his brother at another school. Obviously, this is nothing new in college football. But as we watch the ramifications of unrestricted NIL, and listen to complaints about the transfer portal, why hasn’t this this issue been addressed?

GAME BREAK DOWN
Recap provided by Kevyn Bryant II
The Louisiana State University team kicked the ball away on their first offensive attempt, but not again until the fourth quarter, resulting in a 63-7 victory over the Purdue Boilermakers at Camping World Stadium.
Louisiana State University’s score of sixty-three points is the highest a team has achieved in a Citrus Bowl game.
To make matter worst During Purdue football’s contest with LSU, wide receiver Deion Burks sustained a neck injury after he collided with the ground on a fourth down pass. He was taken off the field by the trainers and medical staff and then was later discharged from the hospital. Glad to hear he is doing better and we wish him a quick return to the game. Purdue (and college football) deserves better than what the coaching staff has done to them late in this season for this important bowl game against a difficult LSU team.

The Tigers (10-4) achieved a scoring streak of five consecutive drives before the first half concluded with the team kneeling.
Malik Nabers gained 163 yards and scored a touchdown from nine receptions, as well as throwing one of his own. He was one of three LSU Tigers to throw a touchdown pass, along with Jayden Daniels, who was the recipient of Nabers’ TD, and Garrett Nussmeier who threw two touchdowns.
Three of the Tigers had runs, with Noah Cain running the ball into the endzone twice.
The Boilermakers (8-6) were in a deep hole of 49-0 when TJ Sheffield caught a pass from Michael Alaimo for 16 yards to get on the board. Sheffield ended the game with seven receptions that yielded 56 yards, while Devin Mockobee ran for 48 yards after attempting thirteen carries.

NOTE: Huge respect to the staff of Florida Citrus Sports, for successfully executing two major bowl games within the matter of six days.
Last year, FSU and LSU clashed in New Orleans, kicking off college football in heart-stopping fashion. This year, we’ll get the rematch in Orlando. In September, the Citrus Bowl Champion LSU Tigers, and the Cheez-It Bowl Champion Florida State Seminoles will both return to Central Florida for the CFP Camping World Kickoff.
And, best believe Sports Club Florida will be there.
