THE SPIKE QUEENS
Lady Rattlers continue to dominate, crushing Prairie View A&M (25-14, 25-18, 25-18) on Friday (Oct. 18), boasting an 8-win undefeated season. As the Lady Rattlers continue to strike fear into the hearts of conference opponents, an age old question persists: why don’t sports fans of both genders care more about women’s sports?
In a year that has seen a renaissance in the WNBA, and a decade that has seen countless women elevate to the peak of their respective sports, the respect (and the money) that comes with that respect, continues to lag behind what has been rightfully earned.
FAMU in particular has consistently fielded one of the strongest volleyball programs in the nation, especially among fellow HBCUs.
A SEASON WORTH BRAGGING ABOUT
This season’s Lady Rattlers are off to a striking fast start.
Head Coach Gokhan Filmaz has enjoyed his 100th victory as head coach at Florida A&M. Over his seven-year coaching career, Yilmaz holds an overall record of 116-93, with a 99-76 record at FAMU.
