UCF has been slapped with a $25,000 fine after fans stormed the court during the Knights’ thrilling 88-80 win over then-No. 11 Texas Tech on Saturday at Addition Financial Arena.

According to a statement released by the Big 12 Conference, the fine was issued in accordance with their Principles and Standards of Sportsmanship.

Fans were quick to rush the court in celebration, but were soon forced to return to their seats when officials called a foul on UCF’s Chris Johnson against Texas Tech’s Lejuan Watts with just .02 seconds left on the clock. Watts made one of two free throws, officially ending the game and sealing the Knights’ victory.

This marks the second time this season that UCF has defeated a nationally ranked team at home, with the Knights previously taking down then-No. 17 Kansas, 81-75, back on Jan. 3.

With this win, UCF improves to 17-4 overall and 6-3 in the Big 12 conference. The team now sets its sights on a tough road matchup against No. 8 Houston (19-2, 7-1 Big 12) on Wednesday.

The Knights are determined to keep their momentum going, aiming for their fourth straight conference win for the first time since the end of the 2020-2021 season when they were part of the American Athletic Conference.

Stay tuned as Sports Club Florida continues to bring you the latest updates on UCF basketball. Go Knights!
