Former UCF Knights left tackle Tylan Grable is ramping up his preparation for the upcoming NFL scouting combine and the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25, which he’s hoping to be the culmination of his life-long dream.
The 6-foot-7, 290-pound Grable appeared in 1,854 snaps in 27 games as a UCF starter for two years. Before joining the Knights, the Wilkinson County product carved out an All-American career at Jacksonville State.
In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Grable talked about his dream of making it in the NFL and his determination to make it happen.
“As a kid, I never said I wanted to play a certain position when I got to the NFL. My dream was always just to be an NFL player and have a career in the NFL,” said Grable, who has now moved his training to Fort Myers.
The UCF alumnus said he’s doing a combination of strength training, conditioning, and position work to get him ready for the Draft Combine. He has also incorporated yoga training to improve his stamina and flexibility.
Excited to see OT Tylan Grable (@tylanmalik) shut it down @ the @ShrineBowl! Very good ATH w/ QB/TE/???? background! Light feet, savvy hand use, quick redirect around the arc! Mobile run blocker w/ strong latch & good landmarks to create run lanes! #ShrineBowlBound @UCF_Football https://t.co/1oryk6MyqM pic.twitter.com/UW9bKjGTuX

He also revealed that he had talks with scouts from at least 28 teams and almost all of them agreed that he has a future in tackle.
Grable is also open to a possible move to the center. Since UCF offensive line coach Herb Hand proposed the idea of playing center to him in his final season, he has regularly worked on his snapping skills to add value to his game.
The NFL scouting combine will kick off on February 29 to March 3. Aside from Grable, UCF will send another prospect for the weeklong activity. Javon Baker, who led the Big 12 in receiving yards (1,139) and yards per catch (21.9) last season, will also try to bolster his stock for the NFL Draft.
