Javon Baker has been generating some buzz ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft with CBS Sports football analyst Leger Douzable calling the former UCF wide receiver a potential sleeper of this draft class.
Baker, who made it into the Big 12 first team after leading the conference in receiving yards (1,139 yards) last season, has emerged as a compelling draft target at wide receiver as soon as top prospects like Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State, Malik Nabers of LSU and Rome Odunze of Washington are off the shelves.
Possessing physical tools and athleticism, the 6-foot-1 Baker is projected to be taken as early as the third round, though other mock drafts have him as a possible 5th round selection.
Douzable, a 10-year NFL veteran and now an analyst for CBS Sports, believes Baker will bring a ton of value regardless of where he ends up.
He pointed out that the former Knights’ size at wideout possession and ability to make plays in the red zone make him a desirable addition to any NFL team. He even claimed Baker could wind up as the draft’s biggest steal.

“There’s going to be a wide receiver available in the third round that could be the biggest steal of the draft. Javon Baker out of UCF. He gets down to the field in a hurry and he can stretch the field. He’s a lot faster than the 4.54 dash that he ran at the NFL Combine. He has game speed.”
After spending two seasons at Alabama, Baker transferred to UCF in 2022 and compiled 108 catches for 1,935 yards and 12 touchdowns in two seasons.
