STRIKE, STRIKE AGAIN
FAMU has awarded Head Coach Patrick Crarey a well-deserved contract extension.
This deal comes after Crarey’s first season, rebuilding a (6-23) team into (9-12) threat. Currently, FAMU Basketball is 10-12 overall and tied for 4th place at (7-4) in the SWAC. Named as the Crarey was hired as FAMU Basketball’s 15th head coach by a friend, former AD Tiffani-Dawn Sykes.
On Wednesday, FAMU approved a recommendation by Vice President and Director of Athletics Angela Suggs for a two-year extension worth $330,000 for the Rattlers’ head men’s basketball coach. This new deal includes a salary of $160,000 during the 2025-2026 athletic year and then increases to $170,000 for the 2026-2027 season.
LONG OVERDUE
FAMU Basketball is playing some of the best basketball that we’ve seen from the Rattlers in years.
Head Coach Crarey’s success thus far can’t be overstated, or taken for-granted. For context, Ms. Sykes dysfunctional relationship with the FAMU Board of Trustees ended up leaving her hand-selected coach stuck in limbo, without a long-term contract. Despite this, Crarey has been a masterful leader of the FAMU Basketball program; recruiting big names, and talented fresh-faces.
THE SCORE
FAMU Basketball is behind in-state rival Bethune Cookman (8-3), Jackson State (8-3), and first place Southern University (10-1).
